A fresh start for Elmdon

A new voice for you

Hello, my name is Paul Edwards, and my passion for politics has always been a driving force in my life. I am dedicated to serving my community, which is why I announced my candidacy as an Independent for the Elmdon Ward in the local elections within the Solihull Borough a few months ago.

Despite only receiving 107 votes on the day of the election, which took place on Thursday, May 2, 2024, I see this as a meaningful achievement. To me, each of those 107 votes represents individuals who placed their trust and faith in me. I am grateful to everyone who voted for me, as well as those who encouraged me, engaged in discussions about local issues, and raised concerns about our community.

My primary goal remains to empower the residents of Elmdon Ward by providing them with accurate and up-to-date information about local issues in an unofficial capacity. I firmly believe that an informed community is crucial for a thriving and democratic society. Thank you to all who supported me on this journey as I will continue to support the residents the best way I can on an unofficial basis. As always my contact methods remain the same and all details can be found on my contact page as well as booking virtual meetings with me.

I am writing an article to urge all individuals aged eighteen and above to participate in the upcoming local elections scheduled for Thursday, May 2, 2024. I urge all young people to familiarise yourself with the candidates running in the local elections. If elected, my goal is to enhance resources for the younger community and establish more social gathering spots where you can relax, socialise, and engage in community activities. To gather input from the younger generation, I plan to conduct a poll to determine your preferences for a central community hub.

Once all suggestions are compiled, I will work to incorporate various activities on different days to cater to diverse interests. This initiative aims to address the challenges faced by young people in accessing community activities due to limited resources. To gather activities, collaboration will take place with community leaders, social club leaders, and local businesses capable of hosting events on different days.

A fundraising platform will be established to secure essential funding for the initial phase of the project. For those who choose not to participate in activities, a designated area will be available for relaxation and conversation.

It is imperative that every young person exercises their right to vote on May 2nd, 2024, as your vote is your opportunity to have a say in decision-making processes.

Today, on Monday, 8th April 2024, marks a significant accomplishment for me. My nomination to run as an Independent Candidate for Elmdon Ward has been officially announced. If elected, I aim to serve my community to the best of my ability, striving to provide support and assistance wherever possible. I am grateful for the support and encouragement I have received from the local community, as well as the wise words of advice shared with me.

I would like to express my gratitude to my wife for her unwavering support over the past twenty-five years. Additionally, I want to extend a special thank you to Helping Hands Home Care (Solihull) for their invaluable support during my campaign. Their dedication and commitment, from Registered Care Manager Helena Wainman to their exceptional team of carers, have been instrumental in my journey thus far.

Please be assured that I am dedicated to continuing my hard work and commitment as I campaign in the area leading up to the local elections. If you see me, please don't hesitate to stop and chat. I extend my best wishes to all candidates participating in the upcoming local elections.

Official Statement from Paul Edwards - Independent

Friday 26th April 2024

As we approach Local Elections Polling Day on Thursday, May 02nd 2024 which is less than a week away, it is crucial to be well-informed before casting your vote for the representative of your choice in Elmdon Ward.

As an Independent Candidate for this ward, I am dedicated to personally reaching out to residents. I have personally distributed my campaign literature and made efforts to connect with residents to address any concerns they may have. I believe it is important for you to know who you are voting for, and I assure you that I will not make empty promises. My commitment is to serve the community with 110% effort and do my best for each and every one of you.

Given the size of Elmdon, I will hold regular surgeries in different parts of the area on weekends to ensure accessibility for all residents. I am committed to responding to emails promptly, usually within a few hours, and if you choose to contact me by phone, I will personally call you back to address any concerns you may have. If you prefer to communicate through traditional letters, I am more than willing to correspond in that manner as well.

I do not believe in making false promises, but rather in dedicating myself to serving the community to the best of my ability. Therefore my goal is to be a responsive and accessible representative for YOUR community and as such YOUR community is my priority, I am here to serve and represent you the best possible way I can.

Over the last few days I will still be campaigning in the local area so please do feel free to stop me, say hi and have a chat.
